Is winter a good time to sell?

While a slower rate of value growth has settled over our national housing market, it is absolutely a great idea to sell in winter.

Firstly, there are often fewer houses on the market so there’s less competition. Your property is less likely to be lost in a swarm of listings and it will be easy to make it stand out. This means that active buyers in the market have less choice, and this would translate to possibly more competition for the fewer houses on the market.

People who are looking to buy at this time of year are more often serious, highly motivated, buyers. Heading out in the cold and rain to attend open homes is not for the faint-hearted, unless of course you are serious about buying.

I have not met a buyer who is unwilling to purchase a property just because it's winter. We are continuing to receive enquiries and signing up listings with four being off-market and another four preparing for auction.
